Today (June 27 - again!) in EP Music History Trivia

"Roll down your window, brother,
Shout out my name
You're on Route 66,
on a blacktop train
Route 66,
on a blacktop train" -- Ellis Paul

Image

This photo of Ellis was taken on April 28, 2001 at the Blue Door in Oklahoma City. Christopher Williams is holding the lyrics to "Minor Key." Some desperate audience members had printed the lyrics and duct-taped the pages together as a means of ensuring that Ellis would perform the song. Notice the Route 66 sign on the wall behind them.

Route 66 was officially decommissioned as a highway on this date in 1985. Read more about Route 66 at the links below.

"Some people are born to make great art and others are born to appreciate it. It is a kind of talent in itself, to be an audience, whether you are the spectator in the gallery or you are listening to the voice of the world's greatest soprano. Not everyone can be the artist. There have to be those who witness the art, who love and appreciate what they have been privileged to see." -- Ann Patchett in Bel Canto.

Katrin :!: So great to have you here! Folks....until very recently, Katrin was the only Ellis Paul fan to have seen him on two continents! :)
