I first saw Deb Talan and Steve Tannen a few years ago when they were part of a song circle at the Club Cafe in Pittsburgh that also featured Mark Erelli and Kris Delmhorst. Deb and Steve both had solo careers at the time...but since then have joined forces and now record/tour as The Weepies. I saw The Weepies live a couple months ago when they did an in-studio performance at the new WYEP Community Broadcast Center in Pittsburgh. Their latest CD Say I am You was released this past March has has been getting a good bit of radio airplay both on WYEP and my new love, WUMB in Boston. Really good stuff...very mellow... in keeping with much of what I'm enjoying these days, ala Hem, Iron & Wine and Rosie Thomas. Curiously, one of the tracks on Say I am You is a song titled "Painting by Chagall". (We all know that Ellis Paul has a song "Marc Chagall," right?
