Today (Aug 14) in EP Music History Trivia - win a prize!

Above is a recent photo of Ellis taken at the Summer Breeze concert in Norman, OK.

In September 1972 a song titled "Summer Breeze" by Seals & Crofts peaked at #6 on the charts. The song was the title track of an album released by the two musicians hailing from Texas. The album, their 4th release, reached #2 on the charts making Jim Seals and Dash Crofts nationally famous. Dash Crofts was born on this date in 1940.

Read more about the album here.

To win a copy of the collectors' item Legacy II CD from Windham Hill that includes Ellis Paul's "Ashes to Dust" simply be the first person to reply to this post with the name of one of my all-time favorite movies from the summer of 1977 starring Robbie Benson and Annette O'Toole that was replete with Seals & Crofts' songs. I plumb near wore the soundtrack album out. :)

How's that for a 3-degrees-of-separation trivia question? (Some days are easier than others.)

It is a kind of talent in itself, to be an audience, whether you are the spectator in the gallery or you are listening to the voice of the world's greatest soprano. Not everyone can be the artist. There have to be those who witness the art, who love and appreciate what they have been privileged to see." -- Ann Patchett in Bel Canto.

This is quite the prize folks. This version of Ellis' Ashes To Dust is rather unique. Seems the mix captured the song and presented it in a way that worked well for us - it was our intro to Ellis :D - but not necessarily what Ellis and Co. were expecting. Seems the original version of this is more acoustic guitar driven and the legacy ii version is kind a new - agey.

There were a few actors I wanted to be when I was younger. Robbie Benson was near the top of that list. What a looker. I've had a few guesses on this trivia question with the missus and I was wrong on both counts.

Sides, I already own a cassette and a CD of this Windham Hill - uh - shall I say Classic Sampler featuring tons of great tunes including Greg Brown's Who'd a Thunk It and Patty Griffin's I Write The Book.

Get googlin guys and gals.

Oh, Paddy, I'm surprised.

And once again I neglected to say anyone is eligible to win this morning. Doesn't matter if you've won something recently. :)
