Jim Morrison is mentioned in "Paris in a Day".

A wonderful way to start off the week....thanks Jela! :)

Say, isn't Ellis thinking of writing an album's worth of songs about famous people in history?

"If you could paint her she'd be a Picasso."

It's near freezing here in Philadelphia...with rain in the forecast for Thursday. I'll probably lose a day to it, myself. :(

Now Ben Franklin air-lifted up a big old kite
With a small gold key on a stormy night
But I'll strike up a candle when I need a light
I lost a day to the rain

Paddy,

Who else besides you and I would be up shortly after 6am nearly cross-posting about the same song! Thankfully we both chose a different character from the song. :)

Here's another. Natalie Wood appears in "Goodbye Hollywood".

Karen.....darn few, I'm sure. I was happy to see your post early this morning -- allowed me another shot at the list. Figured one good turn deserved another, especially since with I Lost a Day to the Rain -- Ellis and Jela dropped a couple of names on us.

I do believe Moses, appropriately, appears in Deliver Me. 8)

Gershwin appears in "Maria's Beautiful Mess":

Now she puts on some music,
She asks you to choose it
You sang her back a Gershwin line.

(this is FUN, Jela!) :D

Say, didn't someone once ask about the Gershwin line? Anyone recall the discussion or know the line?

Jesus dropped by the Martyr's Lounge...... 8)

Now Jesus don't need no introduction
He's got a famous old man
And a party for twelve, I see Cobain, He's well
He's in the Angels that Fell,

Dean, always happy to help! :D

Of the few remaining names on the list, only one is obvious to me now.

Can anyone guess which name that is?

Dying to have someone solve this mystery.

Paddy - I'm guessing that the obvious one left for you is 'Marvin Gaye'?????

Some of the remaining ones are hard! I'll take the easy one. ;)

Fred Astaire dances his way into "The World Ain't Slowing Down". :)

I just want Mr. Paul to know I'm disappointed that Barry Manilow didn't make it to the official list...although we know Mr. Manilow has made random appearances on occasion.... ;)

From everyone's favorite sing along!!

We did Paris in a day,
what would Marie Antionette say?

For me a few more are obvious, but Betty Ford, puzzling???

Patti, I'm drawing a blank on Betty Ford too.....or am I getting my songs mixed up? :?

OK....I can hear the line in my head about Judy Garland in the land of Oz.....I'm pretty sure that must be:

"All my heros were junkies".

But I'm not sure.

Charlie Chaplin also appears in Goodbye Hollywood.

I've seen you cry like Natalie Wood

Rembrandt - New Light On Your Halo

There's cracks in the walls in the town of Jericho, Sirens blaring out a lifetime never told Rembrandt at the wall his palate's small, his hopes are tall He writes his name, his claim to fame

Just listened to End Construction yesterday. Great timing on my part! :D

Good golly Miss Molly you guys are good!!! :D

Elvis has me stumped for the most part, too. :?

I'll venture half a guess, tho, and say he appears in that song about the Magazines?

It's a rare rocker for Ellis........fitting I suppose! 8)

Jela,

That one I know! "Breaking Through the Radio" is the song about the Magazines - a band out of New Orleans. :)

I don't think Elvis appears in that song......

WOW!!!

I can't believe I made the connection........between Elvis and that song, when Ellis merely aludes to Elvis. 8)

By the way -- at the lyrics for Breaking thru the Radio just now.....nice Van Morrison references, too!

I hitched a ride down to Tupelo
With a caravan of gypsy souls
Dancin’ in moon shine
Every song pulled me in like a life line

When ya got it.....ya got it! :D

I went over to the lyrics page and wouldn't ya know the first song I clicked on was the one!!!

Before I found Elvis there I noticed Ronald Reagan there in an earlier verse! 8)

Who's gonna close out this fine, fun,and "not so trivial pursuit" :?: :?: :?:

Thanks again, Jela.....this exercise was fan-tastic!!!

Oh wow. Now with the clues I'm even more  Wait till I tell BeckyG......this is the song that Ellis has asked Becky and I for lyrical help on more than once.....and we always get stuck on the last verse. :( But we always know the Elvis line! Yoy!

I swear I grew up on coke and shake and bake........ :D

There's alot going on in that song, so I can see where lyrics would be hard for Ellis to grab outta thin air.

For anyone, even the most devoted of devotees, to have a clue what lyrics are due, is amazing. 8)

Right? :P
