Song Title Trivia

Postby Richard + Jela » Thu Sep 04, 2008 4:25 pm

I wrote
During the chat about the song title, I asked if he’d ever given a song a title, where the words in the title didn’t feature in the song – there is one so for all you trivia buffs which one is it??? I should have known the answer, as it’s another favourite, which I’ve heard sung live here in the UK.

If we go way back to EE days (Early Ellis)....there are actually 2 or 3 songs that fit:

"city song"
"photograph"
"traffic" (although he uses the word once)

Then there's also the unrecorded:

"Holiday song"

But if the answer is more "contemporary" then I think I've got it! :)

It is a kind of talent in itself, to be an audience, whether you are the spectator in the gallery or you are listening to the voice of the world's greatest soprano. Not everyone can be the artist. There have to be those who witness the art, who love and appreciate what they have been privileged to see." -- Ann Patchett in Bel Canto.

I was wondering something......
Is the question that the song title does not appear in the lyrics?
Or is it that the song title has no connection to the song?
For example......Conversation with a Ghost
The conversation takes place, so to speak....via ouiga board.
But the lyrics of course do not include the words from the title.

Paddy - you got it - the one he referred to was Conversation with a Ghost. As I said its one of my favourites, I just find the story behind it spine-tingling.

Another one would be "Washington, DC". :)
