Folks,

It's hard to believe that it's been TEN years since I first saw Ellis perform with the female trio pictured above. Yes, on Feb. 7, 1998, I attended my 3rd Ellis Paul show. It was the one time my husband Mike was with me at an EP show and I remember Mike talking to EP while EP signed autographs at a table and simultaneously ate a plate of spaghetti. :) I think I bought one of the Boston, Not Austin CDs that afternoon as I recall. It was an afternoon show at Miami University in Hamilton, Ohio. It was actually a terrific three-bill with the female trio and another group called Salamander Crossing, who sadly has broken up since then, although one of the members - Rani Arbo - performs as Rani Arbo & Daisy Mayhem, a marvelously eclectic, four-person acoustic string band with wicked percussion, great harmonies and sublime lead singing.

EP's setlist 10 years ago today:

Take Me Down (1)
Did I Ever Know You? (1)
Angel in Manhattan (2)
The World Ain’t Slowing Down (2)
She Wasn’t Listening (3)
Conversation with a Ghost (2)
3.000 Miles (2)
Translucent Soul (3)
Never Lived At All (1)
[poem] Love’s Too Familiar a Word (2)
Here She Is (2)
Did Galileo Pray (3)

The numbers indicate that it was the 1st, 2nd or 3rd time I heard a song. I love remembering those shows that opened with "Take me down". There were quite a few. :)

So, who wants the easy task of naming the female trio who also performed that afternoon? :)

Karen -- amazing -- thanks for sharing the look back.

I'm at a loss for who those 3 women are, although:

one looks a little like cheryl wheeler
one looks a little like long tall marsha ball

my official guess, and I do mean guess:

the burns sisters?
the roches?
tres chicas?

3 bitchin babes?

I need an easy button --

Okay, is the girl who's face we can't see:

Kris Delmhorst?

I will chip away one at a time if I must.... :D

Methinks Cheryl Wheeler is one of them, for sure.

I have no idea either Paddy, and I searched the archives and found no hints there either, though I agree it does look like it could be Kris D. How about Susan Werner......hmmm.. well Don C. is in the picture so it must have been a memorable night for sure.

Rani Arbo will be at Stone Soup on Feb. 16th...

okay....the sleuth in me thinks the answer may lie in a compilation cd ellis appears on with many other artists, one of which is cheryl wheeler.

I have the cd, or cassette as the case may be, just can't recall the title. I have even looked at ellis' discography but don't see it listed there.

The title may have silver wolf in the title. I think it was a cd for a woman's shelter in the boston area, or maybe a homeless shelter.

As i recall the cd had lots of female artists. Methinks the girls onstage with ellis and don are also on that compilation for charity.

we're gettin there, karen. :D

check this out, folks....

http://www.silverwolfmusic.com/

found the silverwolf homeless charity cd...ellis ain't on it.

never mind..... :?
