Happy New Year Quiz
Happy New Year to you all and to those of who who will be seeing it in at Passims - have a great time and be sure to post your reports.
As this is a time of year when we raise our glasses (!) I thought that it would be fun to post a quiz featuring drinks in Ellis' lyrics and ask you to guess the song title. The quiz is for just for fun and I'd like to suggest that you take turns in guessing the song title, you can have as many goes as you like just so long as you don't do so consecutively...........cheers
1.The Johnsons brought us coffee for the cold
2.They’re at the end of the loop and he’s drinking soup
3.He’s been drinking all night
4.I’m hurt and thirsty, set me on my way
5.Lips pop open like a bottle of wine
6.You drinking your coffee in bed
7.The bartenders buying the round
8.Uncorks the bottle with the dusty label
9.She took to the bottle
10.She ain’t worth the whiskey
11.He kept serving us wine we hadn’t ordered
12.I’m drinkin’ in bars
13.You’ll never find a kinder face than the one behind the bar
14.And she holds up an invisible wine glass
15.Raise to the future, drink to the past
16.We used to chase down coffee
17.Baby, bring the bottle to bed
18.And we drank in the moment like whiskey hundred proof
19.In 1968, he did shots with the Doors at Whiskey-a Go-Go
20.Then fill up your cup ‘till you’re drunk on red wine
21.I am the king of Bourbon Street
22.Our heads were numb from frozen margaritas
23.Now six months later you’ll come and tell me over coffee that you’ve turned to someone else’s hand
24.Leos’ is the bar up in heaven
....and I'll raise a glass to even more great music in 2008.

"Some people are born to make great art and others are born to appreciate it. It is a kind of talent in itself, to be an audience, whether you are the spectator in the gallery or you are listening to the voice of the world's greatest soprano. Not everyone can be the artist. There have to be those who witness the art, who love and appreciate what they have been privileged to see." -- Ann Patchett in Bel Canto.

Paddy,
Can we have another recap? My tired brain is confused trying to figure out which ones still need an answer.

Wendy,
I think that's one of those EP lines that has several versions. I'm pretty sure there's been times when he's sung "coffee and toast" and/or "toast and jam". At least that's what this still-tired brain is remembering....
