"Some people are born to make great art and others are born to appreciate it. It is a kind of talent in itself, to be an audience, whether you are the spectator in the gallery or you are listening to the voice of the world's greatest soprano. Not everyone can be the artist. There have to be those who witness the art, who love and appreciate what they have been privileged to see." -- Ann Patchett in Bel Canto.

Bonnie,
Front row right was filled with members of the opening act's family - including two young boys. After some initial robustness, they were nodding off (the show didn't start until 8pm) and I suspect had to be taken home after their mom's set ended - thus leaving an empty row. After a song or two Ellis commented that from the stage all he could see was the first row...a bit disconcerting since it was empty....(it was the sad puppy-dog face that did it) so Sue Ellen and I along with a couple others moved up. And our vacated seats in the 2nd row were filled-in with folks from behind. It was like a wave of bodies heading towards the stage....
