Just this weekend I heard on WBOS that they were going to start presenting "independent" local performers for a few hours on Sunday...They said Boston has such a wealth of talented musicians that they wanted to give exposure to. They mentioned Johnatha Brook, Martin Sexton... I thought..wow, great...which it is, but after reading an AP story in my paper this morning I realize this is probably the result of anti- payola settlements with 4 major broadcast companies. I guess rules that have been around since the 50's from the FCC have basically been ignored. This settlement should help lesser known artist, smaller record companies as well as local musicians get some airtime!!! Wahoooo.....
