Almost, Maine (a play)

Postby PotatoPicker » Thu Mar 01, 2007 1:13 pm

Folks,

I had the good fortune last night to go see John Cariani's play Almost, Maine at the Roberts Studio Theatre (part of the Boston Center for the Arts complex). It was a very enjoyable show, really consisting of 8 mini-plays taking place in a fictional town of Almost, Maine. (A thinly disguised version of Presque Isle).

John is a Presque Isle native (not to date him, but about 5 years younger than Ellis) who has had quite a bit of succes in the show business world, including a recurring role on Law & Order and a Tony nomination in 2004 I think for his role in the Broadway revival of Fiddler on the Roof. He wrote this play a couple of years ago, and although it borders on "cute" sometimes, it was a very enjoyable show about love and relationships and communications..... something there for all of us to learn from. At least half of them struck home with me - in either painful, happy, or hopeful ways. Too familiar.

And they say "Jeezum Crow" about 8 times :)

Highly recommended......
