America's Got Talent (Jackie Evancho)

Postby KarenZ » Mon Sep 13, 2010 1:29 pm

I don't usually watch these types of TV shows, but like most in the area here, I've gotten hooked on America's Got Talent the last couple weeks with the appearance of Pittsburgh's Jackie Evancho. Jackie has now advanced to the finals which will be broadcast over two nights - Sept. 14 (Tues.) and Sept 15 (Wed). Jackie will perform on Tuesday.

From today's Pittsburgh Tribune-Review:

And here is Jackie's performance of Andrew Lloyd Webber's "Pie Jesu" last week:

"Some people are born to make great art and others are born to appreciate it. It is a kind of talent in itself, to be an audience, whether you are the spectator in the gallery or you are listening to the voice of the world's greatest soprano. Not everyone can be the artist. There have to be those who witness the art, who love and appreciate what they have been privileged to see." -- Ann Patchett in Bel Canto.

Well, it took two hours last night to learn who would win the America's Got Talent competition, but just before 10pm it was finally announced that Jackie Evancho lost to Michael Grimm. I'm sure there will be other awards for her as she gets older! :-)

For what it's worth I saw each of them only once and was pulling for the little girl from Richland. What a talent! Congrats to Mike Grimm.
