WUMB Top 100 for 2009

Postby KarenZ » Mon Sep 28, 2009 5:51 pm

Folks,

It's that time of year again. For the fourth year, WUMB invites you to VOTE for the Top 100 Artists of the year. Ellis Paul came in at #30 in 2006, #13 in 2007, and #18 in 2008.

Vote by Tuesday, Nov. 10, 2009. It would be nice if EP bests his own record in 2009!

My vote's in, too. I'd love to see him in the top 10 this year with his new album out and all. 8)

Jimmy LaFave??? I seem to vaguely remember someone with that name! HA!

Heard it. Glad he made the top 100.

Hoping Ellis kicks Dylan's butt and makes #1!

We're down to #32 in the countdown - Gordon Lightfoot - and still no EP. A good thing. ;) I don't want to hear EP today. I want to hear EP tomorrow. :)

YEE HAW! The countdown ended today with #14 - Patty Griffin - which means EP has to have equaled or bested his best showing and has to be in the top 13 being announced tomorrow! This is exciting! :)

Jela, Mark Erelli came in at #27. Not too shabby! :)

This is awful, but I don't remember if I heard 13. I thought it was Nanci Griffith, but I see she was 12, so maybe I didn't hear it. I'm thinking I didn't as I was seeing the kids out the door for school, so didn't turn radio on until 7:15 or so.

Was just on the phone with my boss and heard Ellis and I thought, oh NO. Glad it was just one tune!!!!!

I'm quite sure Ellis was not #13. I'm pretty sure I heard a man singing when I turned on the radio and he was #13, but it wasn't Ellis. It's driving me nuts I can't remember. It was only 3 hours ago for crying out loud!

Well, because it WASN'T Ellis, I guess I wasn't really paying attention!

"Some people are born to make great art and others are born to appreciate it. It is a kind of talent in itself, to be an audience, whether you are the spectator in the gallery or you are listening to the voice of the world's greatest soprano. Not everyone can be the artist. There have to be those who witness the art, who love and appreciate what they have been privileged to see." -- Ann Patchett in Bel Canto.
