So at EP’s ‘Birthday’ show in Berwyn, Illinois on January 13 (the day before his actual birthday), he mentioned that there is a song out there called Bubbly that sounded a lot like The World Ain’t Slowing Down. I did a search for it last night and it’s a song by Colbie Caillat on her debut album Coco that recently went platinum. I found it on You Tube last night, but for the life of me couldn’t catch the relationship between the songs. Well you know when you sleep on something you occasionally wake up with that ‘Oh My Gosh! That’s it!’ feeling? Well when I woke up this morning, I heard that tune in my head and thought – 'Yeah! That’s it! It’s the choruses that sound the same!'

The chorus of Bubbly goes:

It starts in my toes and I crinkle my nose
Wherever it goes, I always know
You make me smile please stay for a while now
Just take your time, wherever you go

And of course the chorus of TWASD goes:

You gotta get gone
You gotta get going
Hey, the world ain't slowin' down
For no one
It's a carnival calling out to you
And it sounds like a song
It hits you like scripture
You paint the picture
With colors squeezed from your hand
Weren't you the kid
Who just climbed on a merry-go-round
Hey, look, the world ain't slowin' down

Ellis called Bubbly a cousin to The World Ain’t Slowin’ Down – check it out and enjoy.

Dean,

Thanks for the link to TWASD....

Course I meant to say I don't see the connection between songs.

It's a nice song and video though, that's for sure.

Perhaps I'll be able to see/hear the similarities with a few listens.

Thanks again.

Colbie Caillat was on Letterman last night.

Dave and I loved her performance. :D

He approached her after the song and said:

"God, that was lovely -- did you write that?"

She smiled and said giddily, "Yes, I did."

What a career moment for this fine young talent!!! 8)

Took the plunge y'day and picked up Colbie Callait's debut. I've been half listening today and one thing's for sure....nice voice and songs. Reminds me a little of Maia Sharp at times....and that's music to my ears. 8)
