Folks,

Here's a link to another interview:

Ellis Paul: Songs from the map of life by Naila Francis

"Some people are born to make great art and others are born to appreciate it. It is a kind of talent in itself, to be an audience, whether you are the spectator in the gallery or you are listening to the voice of the world's greatest soprano. Not everyone can be the artist. There have to be those who witness the art, who love and appreciate what they have been privileged to see." -- Ann Patchett in Bel Canto.

Nice interview, very well written.... (even if I did have to look up what fecund meant)

fecund = very productive or creative intellectually:

as in the Boston music scene :)

In related news: I had read this article yesterday, maybe. It came via an email alert link for Ellis Paul. Enjoyed reading the article, and painfully reminded we would miss Ellis at Puck this weekend.

It's Spring Break, and with that, we decided to travel. Since Pam had a business meeting the week after Michael's break from school, we decided to head west to the city where her meeting would take place. We'll do five days here and fly home on Monday. Pam will cross town and begin the meeting.

So we're on the plane today about halfway to our destination. Pam had given me her upgraded to first class ticket so she could sit with Michael back in steerage with all the common folk. At one point I take a break from all the pampering going on up front of the plane. I make my way back to row 12 where we exchange hellos. We've been at opposite ends of same points lately, what with all the stress of work and family and travel.

Pam, eyes wide open, smiles and says "take a look at this!"

She picks up a newspaper and gives the short lead in story before revealing. Seems the guy sitting on the aisle to her wimdow seat had a Philly Inquirer newspaper with him. She told me how she had fallen asleep for a few hours. And when she awoke, there was Ellis Paul on the front page of the entertainment section. Big as life. Above and below the fold!!! I looked at the article and realised it was the same one I'd read yesterday.

...and the lights of vegas will save us will save us
