Ellis Paul song on benefit CD: Joey's Song

Postby KarenZ » Tue Dec 07, 2010 12:24 pm

Folks,

The brand new Ellis Paul song "Mr. Teetot" will appear on the benefit CD Joey's Song - Putting an End to Seizures Through Music. The CD will raise funds for The Epilepsy Foundation in memory of little Joey Gomoll.

From the Joseph Gomoll Foundation website:

Because music was the centerpiece of Joey’s world, there is no better way for us to raise money in his name than through music. The Foundation is releasing a series of CDs called Joey’s Song. The CDs feature rare and unreleased songs by major recording acts from around the world. In addition, Joey's Song for Kids will feature children’s music, most recorded specifically for Joey’s Song. Other than the costs of production, every penny raised by Joey's Song will go directly to find a cure and help those affected by epilepsy. So buy a copy for yourself, one for your kids, your cousins, your friends, your friend’s kids, your friend’s cousins... and so on. Not only will you get a ton of music you cannot get anywhere else, you will be helping fight a dreaded disease and helping kids that deserve a break. Volume 1 is scheduled for release in the fall of 2010.

Actually it looks like the date of release is now scheduled for early 2011.

Please consider making a pledge of support at the CD website linked in the first paragraph. There are many levels of support with various premiums attached to each.

It is a kind of talent in itself, to be an audience, whether you are the spectator in the gallery or you are listening to the voice of the world's greatest soprano. Not everyone can be the artist. There have to be those who witness the art, who love and appreciate what they have been privileged to see." -- Ann Patchett in Bel Canto.

Folks,

Here's an update from Mike Gomoll about the Joey's Song CD:

Dear Joey’s Song artists –

I’m sure we will do something more formal, but I had to write to you and let you know that the CDs have been on the street for a little over two weeks and to date The Joseph Gomoll Foundation has written a $5,000 check to the Epilepsy Foundation and donated $3,000 in special needs playground equipment to a local elementary school with special needs services here in Joey’s home town.

Let me say that again, we are less than 3 weeks since the first CDs shipped and we have already made $8,000 in donations.

We have just started, but it because of all of you that we are able to do this. Thanks so VERY much to you all.

Mike
