Ellis Paul on Iowa Public Radio - Dec. 18 & 19, 2009

Postby KarenZ » Mon Dec 07, 2009 12:46 pm

Folks,

A concert that Ellis performed last Friday in front of a live audience for Iowa Public Radio's Java Blend show will be re-broadcast at the following dates/times:

Friday, December 18, 2009 - 11pmCST/12amEST
Saturday, December 19, 2009 - 2pmCST/3pmEST

(I'm assuming the times on the Iowa Public Radio website are for CST and have adjusted the times accordingly for those of us in the Eastern time zone.)

More information here:

Ellis Paul on Iowa Public Radio's Java Blend

I'll post a reminder closer to the date and see who's up for an online gathering. :)

"Some people are born to make great art and others are born to appreciate it. It is a kind of talent in itself, to be an audience, whether you are the spectator in the gallery or you are listening to the voice of the world's greatest soprano. Not everyone can be the artist. There have to be those who witness the art, who love and appreciate what they have been privileged to see." -- Ann Patchett in Bel Canto.

Folks,

Just a reminder about these two broadcasts taking place this evening and tomorrow afternoon. Not sure I can stay awake tonight....maybe tomorrow. Anyone else gonna try to listen in?

I am going to try to pick up the rebroadcast this afternoon.....as long as Christmas preparations aren't interfering.

I doubt I'll be leaving the house today, so I'll try to tune in as well. Getting lots of vacuuming and dusting done. :)

Barefooted Adam on harmonies - Rad on keyboard

New Album - glorious artwork - Living in Virginia, great music scene

Annalee on license plate

Leaping into a lake - not photo-shopped Ellis Paul Jumped on You Tube

Was being a chicken, drove away but then turned back and got wet - everyone worried about the guitar, don't care about me

Completely fan - funded album, raised $100,000 in 4 months, more than a record label would give, took a year recording this

Back to music - 'Alice's Champagne Palace'

Song takes place in northern Maine 20/30 years ago Once upon a Summertime

Every time I hear this song it takes me back to Washington Summer 2007 when he played this song on the piano in the B&B we, and The Blixts were staying in. We gathered after dinner with Karen, Sue Ellen, Illinois Bill, Shari and others.....great memories

Jela,

Thanks so much for the report. I got sidetracked shoveling snow then my son and grandson arrived....

We've got snow too! It is so unusual for us to get snow ahead of Christmas - and afterwards as well. Problem is that we get snow so infrequently that when it does come the country grinds to a halt.

We walked into town this afternoon and saw three cars slide into each other because of the slippery surface - not nice!

Waiting fo rthe snow to start here - got wrapped up doing preparations and gettng other things out of the way and missed the darn show.....

Love that he sang "Once Upon A Summertime"

(More info here than most of you want...)
The potato variety referred to earlier would be the Katahdin. It was developed in Maine and named after Maine's highest mountain. An excellent white potato, with good flavor, though low in starch. Easier to grow than Green Mountains (also a Maine potato, maybe the most flavorful farmed potato, although not grown in very high quantity any more). Those two varieties were what would have been called "Maine" potatoes back in the day.
