The Vail Daily News - Nov. 11, 2009

Postby KarenZ » Wed Nov 11, 2009 2:35 pm

Folks,

Here's a link to an article promoting tomorrow night's show at the Vilar Performing Arts Center in Beaver Creek, CO.

Vail Valley music: Lyrical poet ‘unfurls the flag' at the Vilar Center: Ellis Paul brings folk rock to the Vail Valley Thursday by Sarah Dixon

I never thought of myself as having been "captured in a bell jar" before. :-)

"Some people are born to make great art and others are born to appreciate it. It is a kind of talent in itself, to be an audience, whether you are the spectator in the gallery or you are listening to the voice of the world's greatest soprano. Not everyone can be the artist. There have to be those who witness the art, who love and appreciate what they have been privileged to see." -- Ann Patchett in Bel Canto.

Great article, I love .....
...is closely followed by a diverse fan base that are borderline cultish in their devotion.

Who do you think they are referring to?

Thanks, Jela! :)

Ellis also did a terrific 10-minute radio interview on KZYR which you can listen to at this link:

Ellis Paul on KZYR - Nov. 12, 2009

I wish I had known in advance so that we could have listened in together! :)

Yes thanks Karen for posting the radio link - nice interview.

Like you I enjoy it when we can all log in and listen live to a radio slot. I still find it amazing that I can sit here in England, listening to him on the radio in the US and chit chat away with you all, across the pond.

Cultish??? nah!

I remember one time - back in the day when Passim streamed their shows live! - when a bunch of us who couldn't make it to Boston for NYE listened over the Internet in our Fan Out (Ellis' old fan group) chat room. OMG, was that fun. :) I remember it included Katrin in Germany. Jela, it would have been before I knew you. :(

I remember listening to the Passim show over the Internet in 2003 - we'd been out with friends for New Year and because of the time difference we were able to listen in and that's when I said 'next year I'm gonna be there' and in 2004 we were - the rest is history!

I do so wish that they could resurrect the Internet streaming of the shows from Passim.
