Simon....You Rock!!!
When I saw that our newest member Simon had his first post on the forum, I'll admit I was skeptical. Hmmmn, what's he selling us?
Ellis Paul...that's who.
Nice work there Simon, really nice.
Loving the 20 minute video of Ellis at Towne Crier Cafe.
Hurricane Angel/I Can't Pay........excellent!
Thanks for the easy button link, Karen.

Wow.....Ellis hit a home run with Hurricane Angel. Amazing song!
While I was watching the video and hearing Jukebox...my MP3 player, which I use as my stereo coincidentally started Paris in a Day. Out of 3,000 plus songs I end up with a double dose of Ellis. In case anyone is curious, they don't blend very well together.....

Great video...after Maria's I love how he explains he has a drummer and a bass player located in his right hand, then he fires them!:)
In this video Ellis mentions the price of gas and how much it costs him to travel. I know Bill Staines raised his prices on CD's ( I believe to 18.00) and he said it absolutely was because of the price of gas. When you think of it the going price of 15.00 for a CD has been in around for quite a few years now...
Has anyone notice any other performers CD's prices going up?

Hey Patti,
I've experienced sticker shock for years for what the record stores at the malls have been charging for CDs....the prices are inching up everywere. I still prefer the sale prices when CDs are new at Borders and the like. I love the $15 price at shows because it seems one of the few constants left out in the retail world. I haven't seen any artists out there raising prices, but they will be forced to sooner or later. I suppose as a tip of the hat you could tip an artist with a keep the change gesture. Or even better buy an extra copy or two to pass out to friends and that'll come back to the artist in some way, some day. Karen's worked merch enough to know that $15 makes it easy to make change...just have $5 bills ready. With $18 prices at merch....suppose a stack of singles works, too.

Another shout out to Simon...great stuff!!!
I just love seeing Ellis Paul in an interview. Just a bit more insight into the man, always cool. Here the interview starts with Ellis working on the new song "Pinwheel" from Dragonfly Races. It's a fave for me from the new one and I hope to hear Ellis play it out someday. This "teaser" will do for now.
Also...Ellis' comments on how the backstage area hasn't changed much and it's time to redecorate was too funny. I noticed Ellis, sitting backstage, is flanked by posters of Bill Morrisey and Eliza Gilkyson.
