YouTube - Love is a Curious Thing - 6-4-10

Postby KarenZ » Fri Jun 11, 2010 1:03 pm

Folks,

I recorded this new song last Saturday night in El Reno, Oklahoma.

Ellis Paul: Love is a Curious Thing

Here's the lyrics:

Love Is a Curious Thing

If you ain’t got nothing that you’d die for
Tell me, is your life worth living after all
Tell me what slice of heaven do you cry for
What is that one little thing that sends you jangling when it comes near

Oh love - it’s a curious thing
It makes a fool just sing
It’s the center of everything

Tell me what pretty little thing’s got you wrapped in gold 'round its finger
Is it a child running loose dancing wild across the kitchen floor
A ballerina
A ballerina

Love - it’s a curious thing
It makes a fool just sing
It’s a honeydrop bee sting

Where does your light shine
Running through your veins like homemade sweet wine
Holy like a water; cleansing like rain
Till the sun shines, sunshine
And it beats down like barroom music
Crank it up baby
Cause the more your choose it
The more your people dance
The more your people dance
In sunshine, sunshine

If you ain’t got nothing that you’d die for
Tell me, is your life worth living after all
Oh love - it’s a curious thing
Makes a fool just sing
It’s the center of everything

Love , love, love, love, love

It is a kind of talent in itself, to be an audience, whether you are the spectator in the gallery or you are listening to the voice of the world's greatest soprano. Not everyone can be the artist. There have to be those who witness the art, who love and appreciate what they have been privileged to see." -- Ann Patchett in Bel Canto.

Sue,

Yippee! I'm glad someone besides me isn't going to the free Kris Krisstofferson show at the Arts Festival! :)

See you soon!

So glad you got this one recorded, Karen! :D

Been hoping to see hear it again since it debuted at The Flash. 8)

To me there's a hint of another Ellis song in there you know the one about the girl down at eddie owen's place the one that gets up falls down breaks even gets caught with the wrong mister right.

All things bein the same, it might make for an interesting medley!

a touch of Gorka in there, too. Good Noise comes to mind...

Sounds great.

Hmmm, Ellis is barefoot, did he have to use his shoes for collateral for the borrowed guitar or has he just been hanging around with Adam to much :)

Maybe he's singing about the couple in Rose Tattoo

Oh my....the word 'crank' appears in a song - will this one last???? I know a few people who will be smiling at this :o)

Seriously it's great to hear new material and thanks Karen for filming it so that we can all enjoy.

Jela,

Too funny! I thought the same thing! :) I guess time will tell!

BTW....since I was at the Club Cafe last night, I had the opportunity to walk across the street to Dave's Music Mine and buy my Sam Baker ticket for June 23. ;)

Too funny. I just posted on FB about the word "crank." Of course, immediately thought of you, Karen!

I absolutely am in love with this song. Love the guitar work and as I said to my son yesterday and I'm sure I've said it many times here, every time I see/watch Ellis perform ....... well, he just takes my breath away. The guy puts 110% and then some into a song! Don't know anyone else like him! A diamond in the rough!

Have a great Sunday!

xxoo
