Lyrics to new song: "Heaven is where you are"

Postby KarenZ » Thu Oct 09, 2008 10:21 pm

Folks,

There's some words that I can't seem to hear, but this is what I got Saturday night. I'm sure there will be changes since it's brand-new. This is another piano song.

Heaven is Where You Are (aka The Happy Song) :)

My lips couldn’t speak
Out on Mulberry Street
You say you’ve got nothing to live for
On this long-winding road
If you need somewhere to go
I’ll be the cabbie you cry for

(Chorus)
I wish you could wake up at daybreak and see where you are
Watch the sunlight come shining, your life full of diamonds
And heaven can’t be too far
It’s wherever you are

I know this ‘bout the blues
It only prints the bad news
While ignoring the miracles
But I will stand and applaud
To Buddha, Krishna and God
Cause all this beauty’s hysterical

(Chorus)
I wish you could wake up at daybreak and just be who you are
Watch the sunlight come shining, your eyes are like diamonds
And heaven can’t be too far
It’s wherever you are

Hold onto your hat
Take the top off back
Take a ride out to see the play
Now ain’t the sky so blue
There’s nothing blocking my view
I can’t think of a better way
To kick off some better day

(Chorus)
I wish you could wake up at daybreak and just be who you are
Watch the sunlight come shining, your eyes are like diamonds
And heaven can’t be too far
It’s wherever you are

Hey Karen:

Have you heard the Live from WERS CD from Ellis? We picked up a copy in Fort Collins last month. A portion of a verse and part of the chorus is played by Ellis briefly in the sound check track. It's the last one on the disk. It's worth a listen... And it may clear up some of the ? lyrics

Plus you get to learn more about Rachel, too. 8) and EP sounds a bit like Randy Newman in that part. :o

Thanks for the lyrical posting.

Dean,

You 'da man! :) I listened to the track on the WERS disk a bit ago. The first verse of the song is completely different now, but thankfully the chorus seems to have remained as it was back in January....and the word that I couldn't hear was DAYBREAK! By jove, I think I've got it now! So thanks for the heads-up! :)

Going to edit my other post now.... :)

Dear Karen:

You're too kind.

I wish Ellis would have tried that new song out since January for one of our shows! [is there a male version of Veruca? ] And I wish I would have asked him about it in Colorado after we got a copy of the Live from WERS disk. But since the track was 'Sound Check' I thought it was just a random musing. If I'da only known, then perhaps he would have broken it out for us then, but alas, we'll just have to wait...

until next weekend.....

Yup...

Soon-to-be-off-to-Ann-Arbor-and-Marquette-Michigan-Elaine-and-Dean.

p.s. Yea!

p.s.s. complete with show reports, too...

p.s.s.s. The Ark is a pretty cool venue, too. Last time, though, there was a loud report (like a gun shot) while Ellis was singing the Million Chameleon March. I'm hoping that doesn't happen again. Washington is getting change, one way or another. Am I right?

Dean,

I think you can be Veruca if you want to. ;)

Cool beans that you and Elaine will be at hose shows next weekend! 8) Looking forward to your report.....and maybe you can get those couple of still missing words. It's amazing how much DAYBREAK sounds like DEEP BREATH.

Hey Karen:

I think you're right on Cabbie. And I'm pretty sure he sings:

'But I will stand and applaud'

What a really nice song.

I'm going to post the family show set list now.
