I couldn't find this posted yet. I thought I remember it being posted somewhere, but I can't seem to locate it, so I'll take a shot. This was from the recording at Schubas Saturday, April 5, 2008
It’s a long cold, cold night
It’s three in the morning and I’m drivin’
With one broken head light
On the radio storm warnings
And I’m callin’ just to tell you
That you will not believe
That come sunrise
When your eyes are wide open
You’ll be waking up to me
He-ee-ee
I sat at the table one last shot
Threw it back and weighed the options
Got an ache in me, an aching to drive back
Snowing clear to Virginia
And I’m calling just to tell you
That you will not believe
That I’d drive all night
Half across this country
So you could wrap your arms around me
He-ee-ee-ee-ee-ee
Perhaps we can see this one evolve over the next few weeks...
Regards,
Dean

Thanks, Dean! I don't think they weren't posted before since all there was (previously) was one verse. You 'da man.

"Some people are born to make great art and others are born to appreciate it. It is a kind of talent in itself, to be an audience, whether you are the spectator in the gallery or you are listening to the voice of the world's greatest soprano. Not everyone can be the artist. There have to be those who witness the art, who love and appreciate what they have been privileged to see." -- Ann Patchett in Bel Canto.

Dear Karen:
I thought I'd read somewhere before last weekend that there were two verses, but can't find that either, perhaps it was another song, or perhaps I'm just mistaken, yet Ellis says during the show that he wrote the second verse that day (Saturday).... after his nap.... Funny thing was, I don't think anyone at the show heard that he took a nap - or perhaps we just couldn't believe it was possible.
It's a really great song, Paddy. I don't know if it's actually He-ee-ee or something else, that's just the best I could tell by listening to the recording. And I think I got the aching part right - that's what it sounds like. Perhaps once EP Archives runs it through forensics (Karen, MD, PhD, etc.), we'll know for sure...

Dean,
The 2nd verse surfaced in Crockett, TX. I transcribed the first verse in the thread for The Mansion show on March 16. That's when both new songs (also the Jamiel Shaw song) were heard for the first time. Maybe that's what you're remembering?

If you watch the "Waking Up to Me" video closely, you'll see something cool.
