Folks,
Long before there was a World Wide Web there were text-based newsgroups and/or bulletin boards and e-mail listservs. Usenet was one of the best-known newsgroup discussion systems and was in its heyday back in the early/mid 90s. The Usenet newsgroup that discussed folk music was called rec.music.folk. Rec.music.folk still exists under Google Groups - but the level of traffic is nothing like it once was. In searching the archives of rec.music.folk I came across a review of a show Ellis did at Eddie's Attic in 1995 and thought I would link it here. The author described Ellis Paul as "Art Garfunkle with more body and soul."

"Some people are born to make great art and others are born to appreciate it. It is a kind of talent in itself, to be an audience, whether you are the spectator in the gallery or you are listening to the voice of the world's greatest soprano. Not everyone can be the artist. There have to be those who witness the art, who love and appreciate what they have been privileged to see." -- Ann Patchett in Bel Canto.
