Next Stage - Putney, VT - May 14, 2011

Postby Roscoe » Mon May 16, 2011 1:08 pm

Ellis with opening act Seth Glier put on a great show in little Putney, VT this past Saturday night. The Next Stage venue is a quaint old church and there was not a bad seat in the house. Ellis had a backing band, playfully named Cougar Bait, on this fine night. Of course Cougar Bait was Glier on keyboards and his guitarist Ryan Hommel.

Ellis played many of his staples, Take All the Sky You Need, Annalee, Home, 3000 Miles, etc., but he also busted out a sing-a-long tune called "Kick Out the Lights" a tribute to Johnny Cash and he did an awe inspiring cover of Roy Orbison's "Crying".

He did a little on stage recruiting of Glier & Hommel to join him for a weekend of performances in TX.

Thanks to EP for visiting New England again and can't wait to catch him at Stone Mountain in ME this summer.

Thanks for the post. Fun to hear about Cougar Bait. :-)

"Some people are born to make great art and others are born to appreciate it. It is a kind of talent in itself, to be an audience, whether you are the spectator in the gallery or you are listening to the voice of the world's greatest soprano. Not everyone can be the artist. There have to be those who witness the art, who love and appreciate what they have been privileged to see." -- Ann Patchett in Bel Canto.
