Just checking in from the road...literally, driving back to Atlanta.
But I had to pop in to say how much we enjoyed the show last night! If you have a chance to see him and hear his new songs don't pass it up! Will have to come back later with a set list as I am getting car sick from texting in a moving car.

Annie..thanks for braving motion issues to drop a line about the show last night from the road. Gee, notes from the road, I've heard that somewhere before.. Safe trip and will look for a few more notes when you get settled back home. Roadtrips for music, aren't they the best!

Hi! New here! But was at the Oak Ridge show as well and it was great! This time I didn't have to go that far tho. Live an hour from Oak Ridge.
The new cd is great! I told him it was my favorite so far but everytime I get a new cd of him, it's my favorite. lol
Was at the Rock and Blues cruise in Boston last month too in August. Anyone else?

"Some people are born to make great art and others are born to appreciate it. It is a kind of talent in itself, to be an audience, whether you are the spectator in the gallery or you are listening to the voice of the world's greatest soprano. Not everyone can be the artist. There have to be those who witness the art, who love and appreciate what they have been privileged to see." -- Ann Patchett in Bel Canto.

Re: Grove Theater - Oak Ridge, TN - Aug. 29, 2009
Ok, as promised, here I am back with a set-list.
Not in order....
Maria's Beautiful Mess (right out of the box!! )
Jukebox on my Grave
Take all the Sky you Need
The World ain't slowin' Down (and yeah! I agree, Jack I is a jerk!)
Alice's Champagne Palace
Rose Tattoo
Hurricane Angel
Waking up to me
Once upon a Summertime
Lights of Vegas
Anna Lee (unplugged and awesome!)
Heaven is
After Midnight
I hope I didn't forget anything.
Ellis was a real trouper! The temp in the theater was a bit warm to start with and the lighting on him was sooooo harsh that I just knew he was ROASTING up there.....really! It was like a UFO was landing on him!
So bright! But he played throught it!! Thank you Ellis!!
He had a bass player with him that I think was a late addition and who's name is totally escaping me. He was really good, but I think it may have thrown the sound guy a bit, because there was alot of annoying feedback. Which brings me to my next point... I can live without the attic, but I was really missing 'sound guy extraordinaire'...Shalom Aberle!!!
I wasn't sure what kind of crowd to expect in Oak Ridge, but there was a respectable crowd there who really seemed to be getting into it, and from the way the merchandise was FLYING off the merch table.....the show was a hit!!
Ellis was gracious as always to meet and greet and sign. I was happy to get a copy of the new cd signed for a friend who had just lost her mom. That will cheer her a bit.
Also, shout out to Chris Trapper!! I had never seen him before and thoroughly enjoyed his set! What that man can do with a ukelele!! Awesome!!
It was a great southern swing, wish I could have made it to more than one show.
Ellis, I hope you are enjoying a much needed rest!
I am totally enjoying the new cd!!
Happy trails, and I'll see ya next time!

Hey Annieb and clikchik. Thanks for the reports. I'm guessing the bass player is Michael Clem from the group Eddie from Ohio. He's great isn't he?

Annie, thanks for the notes from the road!
Wow...sans hat and a good hair day! Send photos soon!
Glad to hear you enjoyed Chris Trapper so much. Our friend Barb has booked Chris to play her Jammin Jules House Concert series in New Jersey in March right around her birthday. Barb's a big fan and just knows her friends will love him, too!
We can't wait!
