Folks,
The show at L.L. Bean's Discovery Park featured Carol Noonan, Slaid Cleaves and Ellis Paul. Ellis welcomed everyone to the Maine Folk Festival The fog (Hurricane Bill!) came rolling in and played havoc with EP's guitar, but he sounded FAB-U-LOUS.
The setlist:
Maria's Beautiful Mess
Rose Tattoo
Welcome Home to Maine (Wow! Wow! Wow!)
Take all the sky you need
Lights of Vegas
The World Ain't Slowing Down
Words
Anna Lee
Let it Be (with Slaid) Awesome!
It was gratifying seeing so many friends and relatives come out to see/support their fellow Mainer!

"Some people are born to make great art and others are born to appreciate it. It is a kind of talent in itself, to be an audience, whether you are the spectator in the gallery or you are listening to the voice of the world's greatest soprano. Not everyone can be the artist. There have to be those who witness the art, who love and appreciate what they have been privileged to see." -- Ann Patchett in Bel Canto.

I'd a driven to Freeport to see Welcome Home to Maine!
Let it Be on the boat rocked anew and there's a youtube of Ellis and Slaid Cleave's version out there....
Sounds like another great show!!!
Thanks for the "roving report", Karen!

too much wine monica? or maybe those pretty shoes cut off circulation to your brain?
seriously, it was a very (excellent)rock sounding version. if it weren't for the lyrics i would not have recognised it myself.

Don't feel bad, Monica, when the song began I got excited and whispered to Pam "Martyr's Lounge" as the song began in much the same rockin guitar slapping way. It took me a good way into the song to realize the boys were rockin out The Beatle's "Let it Be" It was pretty memorable, for the most part!?!?

Oh YEA! Now I remember. (I had to loosen my shoe straps, but it all came back to me). I actually think I may have said something to Susan that it was like a melding of Speed of Trees and Let It Be, right??

The show in Freeport was awesome. Drove 3 hours just to pick up the new CD and see the show. Then another 3 hours home. It was so worth the drive.....

Fabulous together! Thanks for posting. First time I ever saw Ellis live was Newport 2003 with Ribbon of Highway, Slaid was also in the line up and the following day they did a set with Jeff Plankenhorn as well......great memories.
Slaid is over here in the UK very soon so will be going to see him - we always try to go to see him and he once put me down on his guest list when I'd forgottem my ticket to a sold out London show - lovely man!
