I won't be able to make it this year. :(

But I expect a full report! :)

I went last year and it was quite a nasty experience. Don't get me wrong, the music was amazing and I recommend that everyone goes this year. It's just that boats and I don't agree.

I am interested in joining in any pre or post festivities though!!

We will be onboard the 2nd annual Ellis Paul Rock and Blues Cruise in Boston Harbor. Last year was a blast and this year should be the same. The chairs will be removed to accomodate more fans at the stage level and allow for dancing. Last year Ellis commented he'd never seen people sit down on one of these things.... Hope to see a good numer of you there!

Rock the Boat......Do.....Rock the Boat, Baby!

C'mon all you fan dancers.....no, wait, scratch that! :P

I'll pass this year. Be advised: if you want to turn family/friends onto Ellis' music, this ain't the venue to do it! The cruise part of it was a huge buzz kill last year...and Ellis' music gets paired with that. Opportunity lost.

My newbies enjoyed the show with location location location front row center adding to the fun that goes along with such great sightlines. Luck of the Irish!

Sometimes the venue can get in the way and I would have to agree that there were things about the boat show that could have been improved upon -- and from what I'm hearing they have addressed the issue of space available for fans to see the show at stage level with a no chairs - lets dance setting.

I'd say on any given night you would be pleasantly surprised to see Ellis Paul for the first time. To see him here with FULL BAND is a rare treat and the setting, although not as comfortable as the usual places is still opportunity enough to capture hearts and minds of Ellis Paul fans in waiting. 8)

AHOY NEWBIES!!! :D

According to Ellis' Facebook, just added to the bill: Rad and Ad!!

"Ellis Paul: Adam Ezra Group will be playing with me! This is gonna be grrreat! maybe even the Croation Sensation... Rrrradislov Lorkovic!"

I might have to suck it up and attend. Look for me. I will be the green looking one clutching on to the railing outside on the deck.

Maybe next year will be my year! :)

In the meantime, I will make do with the Oakridge show.

Ya'll have fun!!

i am so torn on this one. if the show were on land, there's nothing that would keep me away. it's just that whole boat thing. i guess i'm just whining because after last years mess (having NOTHING to do with ellis) i should keep both feet on land, but i want to go since it will be so unbelievably amazing.

..they say 'you always regret the things you don't do' so go for it!

Get there early, get a good seat, sit down, don't move and you'll be ok. From what has been said, the weather looks as if it's going to be nice therefore much calmer than last year which should help.

Enjoy!

Ellis and Adam's band together was a fantastic combo....Rock 'N Roll Ellis!!! What a vibe and great time. Was TRULY the most fun I've ever had on a boat. It was a wonderful way to showcase Ellis' music. Love, loved it that way. The crowd danced (well, I danced and so did a whole lot of others) for most of the night in a friendly atmosphere, holding walls and ceilings when necessary. Ellis in fine form, just love all those guys up on stage with him. I am looking forward to what others have to say here. Susan, Bonnie (we're proud of you), Pat and his wife Pamela, Bonnie's friend Melissa, and a new friend I met Laura the photographer, among many others having a great time. And yes, I am very glad for the flats I had in my purse for the walk back to the garage! :) Thanks for the escort Bonnie and Susan! I am SO glad I went.

sounds like it was a fantastic time...

I can't seem to get the "bonnie song" out of my head...

My Bonnie lies over the ocean my Bonnie lies over the sea..my Bonnie lies over the ocean oh bring back my Bonnie to me...

That can be the theme song for NEXT year...

wow. what a great show. it was well worth the boat environment. ellis was wearing a great hat. ok, so that had nothing to do with the music, but i wanted to mention it anyway!

there was no sitting this year, although i was clutching a pole the whole evening.

ellis did a few songs on his own, then brought out the adam ezra group as his backing band. they all played so well together. adam even learned to play electric guitar for the occasion. all i have to say is look out rad and doncon, your new years gig might be in jeopardy. maybe they can fit 8 on the passim stage? :P

it was great seeing mr and mrs inthepub. ellis has such great traveling fans that sometimes i forget all of my friends are not local.

My daughter and I each brought a friend to Ellis' cruise concert. The night was beautiful --Ellis and the Adam Ezra Group rocked the crowd and the boat! It was an awesome night of music! I'm looking forward to Ellis at Passim in October. Carol 8)

That rear view photo did not come from my camera, I just posted it on FB! :P

I believe there will be photos posted to the rock and blues web site. Nobody in my group had a working camera with them. :(

John and Yoko's "Give Peace a Chance" during their "bag in for peace" in a hotel room in Toronto comes to mind when I think about the boat show.

The Beatles "Hey Jude" live in a television studio somewhere in time (you've seen the video) with fans all around and joining in on the epic singalong.

The seas were mostly calm so we didn't have to worry too much about keeping our feet. Only a few times did we have to steady ourselves. What we got to share tonight with a boatload of Ellis Paul fans (long time and in the making) was a concert Ellis said towards the end will go down as one his favorite gigs ever. Ours, too!

It was great to see Bonnie throw caution to the wind and climb aboard the Frederick J. Nolan right alongside Susan and Monica. We had so much fun! I've never seen so much singing along to a song while it's being performed in such an intimate space. Springsteen fans are there for the boss at the shows in the big halls. Something about this one, though, in a I can't believe we get to witness this most rare of Ellis Paul concerts. Who the heck needed chairs!

Adam Ezra on lead guitar for the very first time. No threat to DonCon but adept nonetheless. It was the energy he brought that floored me. All the guys playing and singing like they'd been backing Ellis for years. The AEG brought it to the stage and although Ellis got only one rehearsal these guys sounded like they put in the time to help rock Ellis Paul. Especially the first ever live performance of Lights of Vegas! Amazing! So much so I had to pick up a copy of Adam's CD for the other side of what this band does on it's own. I've yet to hear it but can hardly wait!

What I have now heard though is Ellis Paul's new CD "The Day After Everything Changed" and all we are saying, is:

Give Ellis Paul and TDAEC a chance!

To write, sing and perform his way into your musical hearts. We did, and see him time after time reward his fans with concerts and records as special as these. We love this new record! Love, love, love it!!! Pam said after hearing River Road on the CD that it's a country radio hit waiting to happen.... 8)

Did someone mention the hat? Ellis came out of nowhere to take the stage and I saw the hat and thought right away, "Oh, It Is So ON!!! Ellis looked every bit the artist he is and worked his magic solo at the start of each set and with his newfound friends in Adam Ezra Group.

Do you like my hat?
Yes
Yes, I Do!
Photos a plenty, Jela!!!

What else can I add, I was one of the best shows ever. Loved every minute of it, even though I had a huge cramp in my leg from trying not to fall over from the way I was smooshed in the crowd.

The Adam Ezra Group was incredible, they played like they had all been working with Ellis for years, not hours.

It was great to see Paddy and Pamela, and always wonderful to see Monica. Bonnie...congrats on making it!

Here is a set list:
Ellis solo-
The Only Way
Speed of Trees
Sweet Mistakes
Hurricane Angel (on Piano)
Heaven's Wherever You Are (on Piano)
Walking After Midnight/Things Change

With Edam Ezra Group-
Take All the Sky
3,000 Miles
Alice's Champagne Palace
Lights of Vegas

Break

Ellis solo-
Words
Rattle My Cage
Once Upon a Summertime (on Piano)

with Adam Ezra Group
Maria's Beautiful Mess
River Road
The Day After Everything Changed
-shut it off-(cell phone song)
Rose Tattoo
Annalee
Let It Be
The World Ain't Slowing Down

Encore
Black Top Train

I should explain that the "shut it off" cell phone song was sung out of frustration...the was a lot of buzzing in the speakers due to someone up front's cell phone constantly going off and no matter how many times Ellis asked people to turn them off it kept happening. She he and the band sang a "shut the damn phone off" song.

The photograph of Ellis is a big file and it took a while for my PC to download it yesterday for viewing.

I can't yet see any of Paddy's pics - I don't think that he's posted them yet????

I should also mention the footwear. Ellis was wearing boots. The audience was shouting all night for him to take them off so he could be barefoot like his backing band. :P

While waiting to board the boat, there was some commotion at the dock. It was the American Idol hopefuls who had auditioned in Boston and made it to the next level. They were filming and posing for photos on the boat in the next slip. There was much waving of yellow papers and shouts of "I'm going to Hollywood!"

Great pictures Paddy, that is so cool about your friend from Kerriville and Tazmania. Pam I hope your foot feels better...

Thanks everybody it was our extreme pleasure to share the photos with Ellis Paul and Adam Ezra Group fans the world over. And I do mean world.

For a time, my Boston friend Joe, who moved to Tazmania, hosted a community radio show there. When it was our turn to chat to Ellis for an autograph of the new CD I told Ellis that Joe lives in Tazmania these days and once hosted a community radio station show.

Ellis ever quick to the draw as he signed Joe's copy of "The Day After Everything Changed" said to Joe "that's great that my music is going to be heard down there...."

Pam's foot is on the mend....thanks.

We had fun with Ellisisms such as:

"I lost a day to the sprain"

and

"I'll fly you into Boston, there's alleys to fall down in"

"G'day mate and what's your request?"

In case ya miss the fb photo caption of me and Joe Adelstein aboard the Rock and Blues Cruise here's the rest of the story:

In line who do I see but my old friend Joe Adelstein who I had not seen since Kerrville Folk Festival in 88 and 89. Joe's from Boston and I've wondered about him for two decades. Fruitless searches on google for the simple fact that Joe no longer lives in Boston, no, he lives in Tazmania. No wonder I couldn't find him. But there he was in line to see Ellis Rock the Boat. He'd seen Ellis in the early days at Kerrville circa early 90's around the campfires with songs like "Just a Jester Fool" ~ Happy to say some things, and people, never change. We stood each other beers! Unbelievable.....
