The crowd was great. Full and fun and really getting into it. I talked to Ellis between his sets and his voice was fried – and he (and the band) nailed the final set! Oh my!
Here’s the setlists:
Steppin’ In It setlist:
1. Goodbye Betsy Brown
2. Hitting on all Six
3. Freightliner [?]
4. Bessie May
5. Twelve String Rag
6. Stonehenge (I heard Josh say this to Michael when he came on stage, but I don’t know for sure if this really is the name of the song)
Ellis’ setlist:
1. Drive All Night
2. Anna Lee (acoustic)
3. Rose Tattoo w/Harmonica!!! and Joe Wilson on Straight Steel (new song)
4. Take All the Sky You Need w/ Joe
5. Jukebox On My Grave w/Joe
6. 3,000 Miles w/Steppin’ In It and Michael Clem (acoustic)
7. Let It Be (jazz rendition) w/Band (acoustic)
8. The House of the Rising Sun w/Band (acoustic)
9. Blacktop Train w/Band (acoustic)
*** Interval***
10. Hurricane Angel
11. Once Upon a Summertime
12. Maria’s Beautiful Mess
13. Alice’s Champagne Palace
14. The World Ain’t Slowin Down (joined by Michael Clem)
15. Walking After Midnight/Change (w/Michael Clem and Joe Wilson)
16. Hard Travelin (w/Band)
17. Rodeo Clown (w/Band)
Encore – Home (solo)
Again, Oh My!
Had a long drive home today and had to put a few hours in at the office. Gonna put down some lyrics and call it a night. Perhaps I’ll think of more later.
I’ll just say that Ellis surprised me and Elaine in so many ways this weekend and I’m very grateful for his music.
Off to posts some attempt at lyrics, now.
Regards,
Dean

Step away from the computer, sir, said officer friendly.
I want Dean to get some rest, and I want Dean to get some rest, now!!!, said Veruca Salt.
You are living the dream, Dean and Elaine, you are living the dream!!! said the man who just read about the roadtrip!
Thanks for the tireless efforts put forth on the road and off, guys. Quite simply, You Rock!!!
Looking forward to the new song lyrics you are working on, Dean....but I'm exhausted just reading about your roadtrip to see Ellis and Steppin in it over the course of all those shows and days and nights and miles......goodnight...zzzzzzzz

Thanks Patti and Paddy! And thanks for making me laugh Paddy!
It was a really fun and spend some time listening to many favorites and to get a few new favorites too. Those Steppin In It guys were super musicians - to follow EP so well, too. Ellis would call out a key and those guys played right with him. Plenty of solos, too. Especially on the ol' doghouse bass - shall I say 'Brilliant!'? Yes!!!
