It will be a while before I have my pictures up online, so here is a teaser.
During Flynn's set, the New Years Eve gremlins, Ellis, Ralph and DonCon kidnapped Rad from the stage.

Happy New Year! I sure missed seeing you all but after spending 2 hours shoveling at least a foot of snow from my driveway (which is the driveway from hell), sitting in front of the fire with a glass of wine and my book and listening to the wind howl, as much as I love Ellis and all of you, I just couldn't get up and go! I'm getting old in my old age! Looking forward to all of the pics so I can live vicariously through you!

Re: Club Passim New Years Shows 12/30/08 - 12/31/08
I’m killin’ time in Boston (not Texas!) waiting for our flight back home and thought that I’d just say a huge thank you to everyone for making our trip so great – you guys and you know who you are, are so special, and always make us feel so welcome.
From the Portland show, which was one if not the best Ellis show I’d been to, through to the Children’s show on the 31st and all four Club Passim shows, we have had an absolute ball. Richard has taken a few pics and once we get home and sort ourselves out he’ll post a link so that we can share them with you.
A few memories……
On the drive to Portland, Bonnie saying that she hoped that Rad was wearing the same outfit that he wore for that calendar!!
Dancing like a kid at the children’s show with Ms Z
Hearing the new songs live, especially ‘Rose Tattoo’
The Vance Gilbert doll that Ellis stole in a Yankee Swap and Dean somehow managing to incorporate it in the stage show…..has someone got a photo?
Hearing live for the first time ‘Comes a Time’ (unplugged and in the audience)
Dean in a tux, Elaine very glamorous in black including a feather boa, Karen glistening in gold, Bonnie’s bridesmaid shoes, Susan’s sparkly skirt and Lyn festive in red
Me finally getting to wear ‘a cocktail dress AND combat boots’ on New Year’s Eve
The snow – we just don’t get weather like that back home
Wishing Rad a Happy New Year in Serbo-Croatian – Karen, Richard and myself holding up a sign each, catching his attention from the stage at the stroke of midnight, saying ‘Sretna Nova Godina’
So many more, too many to mention oops there’s a call coming over the tannoy for us to report to the desk……………..whaddya know????? We’ve just been upgraded to First Class for our trip back to London………how could this trip get any better??????
See you all again someday
Jela (+ Richard)

Sooooooo much to say. So little time...
Oh My!!! That's embarrassing! I love it!
The things you mention Jela are so awesome for me too. The Cherry Up Top for me was living an Ellis Paul song with Ms. Z, Richard + Jela to and from the Family Show on New Years Eve!!!
Trolley Car
It's a snowy night, the cops shut down the freeway
big men in plows are out carving up the streets
Below them, jammed on a subway,
I'm with two hundred over-dressed strangers
brushing snow off coats and shoulders
kicking snow off dress shoe feet
You live six miles down this trolley car's trail
up above the red line, where the street musicians wail
Where Baby, we used to chase down coffee
on the sidewalk take in tunes
We'd drink in the waning hours
till we polished off the moon
Who knew the moon would fail
above the trolley car trail
"Park Street, next station"
says a voice with an accent I've heard
and I see shoppers on the platform
where green and red lines diverge
I fight my way through the packages and the bows
to a pay phone, the operator knows
she says to me, "Your nervousness shows"
I say, "'Nervous' is too kind a word"
I think snowfall should be measured
By how much it takes a city by surprise
By how far back old timers go to remember
the last time a blizzard stung their eyes
Last time I rode a subway
you had summer in your eyes
Your phone rings, but it only brings your voice
on a message machine, "I'm not here, the tape is clear"
me, I'm off the hook it seems
"I called," I say, "to say `hello'
to coax you out where the snowmen grow
but you're not home, and hey, I gotta go,
it was good to hear your voice."
Thank all of you for the spectacular time we had this past week. From Hooting with Don everytime I saw him, to sharing a table with Susan for a few shows, and Bonnie, too for the best one, to seeing that awesome new artist (new to me) Adam Ezra (thanks Rachel for telling us about him!), to seeing Ellis play so very many times.
And just so you know, the last show was my 50th EP show - it was very special for me to spend New Years Eve with so many of my new friends. December was a month to remember for me, for sure. Thank you so very much.
I know you and Ms Z are on your way home, so I hope this note finds you in comfort there.
All My Best,
Dean [and Elaine]

It is a kind of talent in itself, to be an audience, whether you are the spectator in the gallery or you are listening to the voice of the world's greatest soprano. Not everyone can be the artist. There have to be those who witness the art, who love and appreciate what they have been privileged to see." -- Ann Patchett in Bel Canto.

Jeff, thanks for the Vance Doll picture.
Dean, do you want to post the setlist for the early show on the 31st? I think that's the only one tha hasn't been posted, although maybe I missed it while I was sorting through photos.

Karen I agree completely about not falling down steps again, for those of you who missed it, when I first arrived at Passim it was snowing and icy and I hit the first step to get into Passim (they are in a basement) and flew up and sat HARD and bounced down all the stairs...right behind Ellis.
My butt is still killing me, and I hadn't even started drinking yet!
Bonnie, I agree completely about Adam Ezra, amazing voice, wonderful musician and really good looking too!
Adam, your shower habits (or lack thereof) do not scare us off!

Paddy to top it just after the show as I was putting on my jacket and she was leaning back to take a picture (I think) I whacked her right in the back of her head with my elbow. I felt horrible. Sorry Susan..... next time I see you I owe you one.

Jeff, I don't even remember that, don't worry my head is fine....I'd had a few "beverages" by then.
