Hey y'all...

I finally feel the shift in seasons. Sometimes being a road musician can stretch a winter out by a few months. One can find themselves in Maine or Colorado experiencing May snow squalls, snow capped peaks, scarves and mittens. I'm home in Virginia and flowers are blooming, green is the predominant color.

I'm starting the song cycle again for my next project! I have a few good new ideas and the past year's cycle of kids music is but a memory, and I committing myself to absorbing as much art, movies, and books as I can find for inspiration. Just finished Erik Larson's 'In the Garden of Beasts'... it's a non-fiction account of an ambassador's family in Berlin around 1933. Great read from one of my favorite authors.

I will travel with a journal and begin listening differently to conversations for passing ideas. Guinness (my wounded guitar) is almost back in my hands. I plan on making the next CD focus around my guitar and get back to the nuances of acoustic instruments. I may play piano less on this one-- leave that for Radoslav and guests.

I'm also finishing Christmas songs, and hopefully a holiday album will come in November. It's a bit of a song factory in these parts right now...

Great upcoming shows and festivals these next few weeks! Maryland, NYC, Connecticut, Texas and beyond!

Hope to see you out there!

Maryland, New York and Connecticut -- THIS Weekend!  (Plus, Vance Gilbert!)

Ellis heads to Annapolis, MD to the Ram's Head for a very special co-bill with Mr. Vance Gilbert on Thursday, then head's to New York City to Joe's Pub (where Peyton Tochterman opens!), then re-joins Vance at Landmark on Main Street in Port Washington, NY, and ends with a show in Pomfret, CT at the Vanilla Bean (where Amy Black opens!).

Whew...  I got tired just writing that.

Tickets still available for all shows - come say hello to Mr. Paul!  He would love to see you.
